Which is better: PET board or UV board?

Both PET and UV boards primarily use medium-density fiberboard (MDF) as their core material, though plywood or particleboard can also serve as bases. Compared to plywood and particleboard, MDF offers superior surface flatness, making it the preferred core material for both PET and UV boards.

1. From an environmental perspective, MDF is predominantly E1-grade material, with E0-grade being less common in the market. Consequently, the environmental performance of MDF-based substrates is inferior to that of solid wood plywood or particleboard substrates.

2. Regarding surface flatness, PET sheets exhibit superior flatness compared to UV sheets. This is primarily because the flatness of UV sheets largely depends on the flatness of the substrate material. If the base material for UV panels lacks sufficient flatness, surface sagging may occur during post-processing. When viewed from the side, UV panels may exhibit an orange peel effect. This primarily applies to high-gloss UV products; matte finishes have lower flatness requirements for the base material.

3. Regarding pricing, both PET and UV panels use decorative paper as their base layer. PET panels are priced approximately several dozen yuan higher per sheet than UV panels. However, if UV panels feature wood veneer finishes, their cost also depends on the veneer's intrinsic value.

4. In terms of yellowing resistance, both PET and UV door panels exhibit commendable performance metrics.

Which is better: PET or UV panels? How does PET perform?

How is PET?

1. In daily life, PET is actually quite familiar to us. It is widely used in industries such as textiles, papermaking, food machinery, transportation, ports, healthcare, coal mining, and chemicals. Materials like PET plastic and PET film are well-known to us. For instance, the bottles of mineral water we often drink, cling film, and edible oil packaging all utilize PET materials.

2. PET sheet is the abbreviation for Polyethylene Terephthalate, commonly referred to as PET sheet or PETP sheet. Its Chinese name is “polyester plastic sheet,” abbreviated as polyester sheet. Its main components include polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT).

3. PET sheets are primarily manufactured by printing decorative paper onto the surface and then laminating it with a layer of PET film. Since PET film is transparent and colorless, the appearance of PET sheets is determined by the color of the decorative paper on the surface. The surface hardness of PET film typically reaches 2H, offering good scratch resistance. Additionally, PET film possesses a certain degree of toughness, making it less prone to chipping during cutting and material handling processes.
